CSITC ROUND TRIAL 2026-3 COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER 2026.

The 2026-3 Round Trial under the auspices of the ICAC Task Force on Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC Committee) was conducted by Faserinstitut Bremen and results were sent out on September 24th. The samples were again prepared and distributed by ABRAPA.
54 testing facilities from all continents submitted results for in sum 171 instruments, which is close to the all-time high in 2025.
For each instrument, an overall evaluation result (OER) is calculated, which shows the overall deviations from the reference values for all samples and all properties.
The median overall evaluation result of all participating instruments (OER) in this RT is 0.327, a result which is slightly better than the average of 2017 to now (0.35). I am happy to state that for Length as well as for Strength, the median evaluation is the best evaluation ever. This is a proof that the samples were perfectly homogeneous.
Laboratories are getting a detailed analysis report for each instrument. In addition, laboratories are getting an enhanced certificate stating the status of their instruments in comparison to all participating labs/instruments with a statement as to whether the laboratory's instruments are in the top 10%, top 25%, top 50% or top 75%.

Round Trials serve to improve cotton instrument testing worldwide by providing detailed, confidential, diagnostic results to each participating laboratory. Participating labs do not receive pass/fail results, but a detailed analysis of their results and deviations from the reference values, which helps the laboratories to improve.
The organizers of the Round Trial (ICAC and Faserinstitut Bremen with ABRAPA) are continuing their work on the Round Trials and laboratory participation. Every testing facility can join this activity at any quarter of the year. For this, please contact the ICAC secretariat for your participation (csitcsecretariat@icac.org or Ms Maria Borisova - maria@icac.org). Participation cost for 2027 is 400 USD per Round Trial (including up to 4 instruments), or 1600 USD for a complete year. Registration is open all year, but the earlier you register, the earlier you can compare your results to 80 to 180 instruments worldwide.
